Markings on wallpaper: decoding alphabetic and digital markings on the label of the roll

The designations on the wallpaper carry valuable information: what material the wallpaper is made of, what kind of room they are suitable for, whether they are afraid of water, what care is needed and much more. Designations on rolls are provided in the form of graphic symbols, letters or numbers.

Decoding icons

Wallpapers of any manufacturer are marked with symbols in the form of drawings. The pictograms on the label carry information directly on the characteristics of the wall covering.

Wallpaper care (moisture resistance)

If you plan to wash wallpaper in the future, or the coating will be glued in a room with high humidity, you need to look for rolls with a wave icon. This designation will tell about the options for the care of wallpaper.

Water resistant. Wallpapers are suitable for rooms with high humidity, are not afraid of water. Fresh stains can be cleaned with a damp sponge or cloth. Use of detergents is not allowed.

Washable It is allowed to clean the cloth with a wet sponge or cloth with the addition of gentle detergents (liquid soap, gel).

Pattern docking

Marking with arrows indicates the method of combining paintings. The designations speak of an arbitrary label as well as an exact joining of the elements of the picture.

Without docking. Cloths are glued arbitrarily, the combination of the pattern is not required.

Docking on one level. The picture is fitted on the same level with the next piece (on the packaging, the designation may be rapport 64/0, for example).

Step combination. On the new roll, the design should be half as high as on the glued one.

Counter sticker. Two arrows in the opposite direction mean that each new piece is glued with a 180 ° reversal.

Direct sticking. Sometimes there is a designation in the form of a straight arrow. It says that the canvas is glued strictly in a given direction.

Exact offset. The numerator is the height (pitch) of the pattern, the denominator is the amount of displacement of the webs.

Adhesive application

On how to glue the wallpaper will tell the icons with a brush. By the designation it is possible to understand where to apply the adhesive composition (on the canvas or the surface to be glued).

Putting glue on the wall. The adhesive composition is applied only on the surface to be glued.
Applying glue to the wallpaper. Only cloths are coated with glue.

Wallpaper self-adhesive after wetting. Cloths by default, before pasting it is enough to moisten them with a damp cloth or sponge.

Special glue. For pasting requires a special adhesive composition.

Wallpapering (installation)

Ways of glue application and pattern docking have their own symbols. But there is a sign that says about the special technology of sticking.

Invisible docking. Sheets are glued with an overlap of 4-6 cm, after the pasting is completed, it is carefully cut off.

Removing wallpaper (dismantling)

Symbols will show how easily the wallpaper is removed from the walls. Understanding icons is useful when it comes time to update the interior.

Completely removed. The coating is easily removed without the use of inventory.

Partially removed. Removed in layers with a scraper, sometimes water. New material can be glued to the bottom layer.
